What is a Sport Truck?<\/h2>\n

A sport truck is a type of truck that has been modified in order to give it more sporting qualities. A common modification among sport trucks and possibly the most popular is that of a lowered suspension. Lowering a truck has two main benefits: a lower center of gravity for increased handling and appearance. Spindles<\/h3>\n

\nA spindle is a part of a vehicle’s suspension system that has the responsibility of attaching the wheel and tire to the vehicle’s axle. A drop spindle will help place the vehicle’s axle higher up in comparison to the wheels and therefore lower the vehicle by the designated height. Western Chassis has a multitude of drop spindles at different drop heights for various trucks. We also carry stock spindles for certain trucks if you wish to keep your truck at its original height.<\/div>\n

Coil Springs<\/h3>\n

\nCoil springs are used to absorb the imperfections in the road surface and keep your truck’s ride from feeling too harsh and stiff. Coils come in different variations and typically, the stiffer the coil, the stiffer the ride. However, the benefit of a stiff coil is better handling. Finding a balance between a stiff and soft coil comes down to preference. Western Chassis has truck coil springs for different drop heights.\n<\/div>\n

\nShocks work together with coil springs within your truck’s suspension. While the coil springs work just as a spring would to absorb any harsh ride that goes to the truck’s cabin, it is the shocks that keep the coil springs from continually oscillating. Without the shocks, the truck would continue to bob up and down after encountering a bump.\n<\/div>\n

Leaf Springs<\/h3>\n

\nLeaf springs are a type of suspension that are attached directly to a vehicle’s frame. Unlike coil springs, they elongate while they compress in order to soften a truck’s ride and provide comfort. Western Chassis offers replacement leaf springs for the ride height of your choice. They are called leaf springs for their shape.\n<\/div>\n

\nNormally, a vehicle’s axle lays beneath the leaf springs. In order to drop your truck’s height a significant amount, the axle needs to be moved up. However, it can only be moved up so much before it interferes with the leaf springs. In comes flip kits. Flip kits allow you to place the axle above the leave spring, allowing even more leeway to lower ride height.\n<\/div>\n
